Woman Injured By Negligent Driver Awarded Over £10k
A woman who was injured in an accident involving a negligent driver has been awarded more than £10,000 compensation.
The court heard that the woman had been stationary in her car when another vehicle ran into it at speed. The impact pushed her car forward several feet and she sustained injuries to her neck and knee.
The woman, who is 70, had to have surgery and was unable to walk for two months afterwards.
She suffered severe pain in her knee for four months and needed a walking stick to help her to move just a few steps. She also suffered acute neck pain and had to undergo hydrotherapy.
Before the accident she had been very fit and active but due to her injuries she was unable to carry out household chores or enjoy her hobby of gardening. She also had to give up going to the gym, which she had previously attended five times a week.
She also suffered from travel anxiety, which prevented her from visiting family and friends.
The woman brought a claim against the driver of the other vehicle, claiming that he was negligent in driving at high speed and colliding with her car. He admitted liability.
The court awarded her just over £10,000 to compensate her for pain, suffering and loss of amenity.
